Censorship
This project was an investigation into the different forms of censorship and how it is used, positively and negatively.
This poster set was made to look into different aspects of censorship and how they are used and viewed in today’s society. These posters were created with Risograph printing, the layering of several print runs to emphasise the idea of censoring, but using neon ink for each layer to contrast it. Three elements, images, quotes, and abstract 3D typography were used on each layer.
~ The first poster looks at a main criticism of censorship, and how it is used by governments to control its people, using photos of Brexit and Black Lives Matter protests to show the issue in current events.
~ The second, looks at a positive use of censorship by the New Zealand government, and their PrimeMinister, Jacinda Arden. Censorship was used hereafter terrorist attacks in Christchurch, in order to prevent the terrorists from getting what they wanted, fame and notoriety.
~ The last poster was a more light-hearted look at censorship, looking at ‘swearwords’ and how in many circumstances they curse nothing but add humour and inflexion when used correctly, as the quote suggests.
